UNDER HIS WINGS
Psalm 91:4 “With his feathers he will cover you; under his wings, you will find safety. His truth is your shield and armor.”
Isaiah 40:31“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
Focus: God’s nearness and loving dedication to us.
A hen is a very interesting bird. After its eggs have been hatched, it never leaves its chicks. Each day she leads her chicks to find food. The hen teaches them how to scratch and search, and they are all joyful when a tasty morsel is eventually found. If she sees any danger, she instantly gathers them under her wings for protection.
God uses this imagery of a loving mother hen, to express His Love and dedication toward us. Even as the hen never leaves her chicks, God never leaves or forsakes us. As she leads her chicks to find food for their stomachs; God leads us to find Truth to nourish our souls.
God’s Word, the Old Testament, and the New Testament are as two Wings, which provide GREAT PROTECTION for our minds. The truth in His Word helps us to make the right choices in our diet, dress, marriage, occupation, and all other aspects of life. His truth also functions as ‘Armour’ to give us guaranteed protection from dangers seen and unseen.
God is always near, and He stands ready and able to shield and protect us from the lies and deceptions of the devil. Like the hen, He diligently teaches us how to ‘scratch’ and search His Word, and He rejoices with us when we choose to BELIEVE and OBEY Him. Truly God’s nearness brings us great and marvelous blessings.
When we choose to abide under the dominion (guidance) of His Precious Word, we are covered under His Wings, and can never be overcome. As we rest under His Wings, He teaches us how to wait patiently on Him. He daily renews our strength so that we can mount up and triumph over temptation. We learn how to ‘run’ and not get weary in well-doing. We rejoice in God’s nearness to us, as we walk with Him. Therefore, we shall not faint when fearful situations threaten us. Praise God for His Love and devotedness to us at all times.
