THE NECESSITY OF SEEKING GOD EVERY MOMENT OF OUR LIVES
Joshua 3:2-4 “After three days the officers went throughout the camp, giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it; but keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between you and the ark; do not go near it. Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”
Focus: God is the only Being who knows all things; therefore we should seek His Guidance at all times.
God loves us, and He wants us to experience life more abundantly, every day of our lives. This will only happen when we choose to seek His Wisdom, and Guidance when making all decisions. He says, “Without Him we can do nothing.” (John 15:5) God has told us this, because He wants us to understand the importance and the absolute necessity of seeking His counsel, in every situation, at all times.
God wants us to enter each day with a particular consciousness of mind. He wants us to be aware that we are entering a new untried day, and we have never been this way, or lived in this day before. When we are drawn to understand the seriousness of this statement, we will truly appreciate God’s admonition, to acknowledge Him in ALL our ways and He shall direct our paths.
Before the new day begins, God knows everything that will happen, how it will affect us, and how we will respond. In addition to this, He knows how He would prefer us to be affected, and how He would like us to respond. Therefore, His advice to us is to Trust Him with all our hearts, and lean not to our own understanding. When we trust our own judgment, according to our understanding of the particular situation, the results can be very disappointing and fruitless.
God wants to keep us from having to experience regret, and remorse, so He invites us to seek His direction every moment, as we journey on the path of each new day. Since we know not what the next moment holds, He cautions us to Trust Him without reservation. God wants us to be fully committed to His Leadership and Guidance, so that the events of the day will unfold according to His Plan. He wants our total dependence on His Knowledge and assessment of whatever may occur.
God wants us to experience Peace and success all the days of our lives, so He gives further Counsel in our final verse. He bids us, Pray without ceasing. He knows the wonderful benefits we will gain, when we get into the practice of having constant communion with Him. To Pray without ceasing, is as important as breathing without ceasing. God wants to develop a relationship with us, where we naturally talk to Him about everything. Even while we are having a conversation with someone, we can be talking to God in our minds at the same time.
God is a wonderful Being. It is exiting and reassuring to know that He is constantly with us. When we are walking with a friend, we often talk without ceasing; from one thing to the next. We share our feelings and desires, we laugh, and we express ourselves. We listen, we make suggestions, and we offer assistance. Likewise, God wants to have this same kind of fellowship with us, where we freely talk to Him and enjoy Him as He talks to us.
Pray without ceasing is a command, but it is also an invitation. God is inviting us to involve Him in all the affairs of our lives. He is inviting us to seek His opinion, while at the same time thanking Him for past advice. He wants us to Praise Him for His Wisdom, when we see the beautiful results that follow, as we heed His Counsel. He wants us to laugh with Him, as we share the happiness caused by the success which He created for us. It is His Greatest delight, when we freely share our deepest longings and desires with Him, for then, He can Surprise and Bless us.
Let us therefore accept this PRECIOUS INVITATION given to us by our Beloved GOD and FATHER. May we truly experience more and more the marvellous Benefits and Divine Rewards, of Praying without ceasing.
