PURITY OF MIND

Matthew 5:8

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."

The word pure can be defined as, clean, unmixed or undiluted. To be "pure in heart" is to function without malice or evil intent; to be honest and sincere. This is the ultimate goal of the Christian. These characteristics are not achievable without divine intervention, which must be an ongoing process. In other words, it is only as our lives are spirit-filled and spirit-led, that we can become 'pure in heart' (pure in mind).

The outflow of purity of mind is, pure thoughts; pure motives; pure words;  pure actions; and pure habits in all that we undertake.

Our lifestyles will reflect the fact that we have meaningful, experiential relationships with God.

The verse concludes-

" for they shall see God". Seeing God is a promise to the "pure in heart". Such a promise means that we are empowered to acknowledge God's presence and guidance in our lives.

The promise helps us to realize that God is working on our behalf even though we may not understand. Romans 8:28 states "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

May we rely on God's promises and trust Him at every juncture of our lives, realizing that He alone is able to help us to be "pure in heart".
