KEEP ON BELIEVING IN GOD’S LOVE FOR YOU

Mark 5:22, 23, 35, 36, 41, 42.  “And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name.  And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.”

“. . . While Jesus was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”

“. . . Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”   Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement.”

Focus:  Even when the situation looks hopeless, God wants us to continue Believing in HIS LOVE for us.

In our verses for today, a father had asked Jesus to come and heal his sick daughter.  Before Jesus could reach the girl’s home, persons came to the father with the sad news, that the child was dead.  When Jesus heard the report, He responded by saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”  Jesus did not want this father to be overcome by fear.  Even though the child was now dead, He wanted him to continue to believe, because the Bible warns us to take heed, lest we should have an evil heart of unbelief.  (Hebrews 3:12)  When we entertain unbelief, we are choosing to doubt God’s Love for us.

It is written in the Bible, that God is Love.  (1 John 4:8)  Love is not just WHAT God does or HOW He feels.  Love is WHO God really is; Love is His very Being, His very Nature.  God’s Nature cannot change; therefore, His Love for us cannot change. This is the main thing that God wants us to understand and remember, when we find ourselves in difficult circumstances.  The situation may or may not change, but we must always remain FOCUSED on the FACT, that God’s Love for us Never, Never, Never changes.

Jesus eventually arrived at the girl’s home, and raised her from the dead.  This story has a wonderful and happy ending, but what about the time when there is no healing, and no raising from the dead?  This is the question that God wants to answer for us.  When someone is sick, and we pray for that person, God can choose to allow healing, years of continued suffering before death, or immediate death.  When God allows Healing, He is Love.  If He allows years of suffering, He is Love.  When He allows immediate death, He is still Love.  God does NOT want us to define Him or His relationship with us or the sick person, by what He does, or does not allow.

Sometimes we question God’s Authority and His Actions, in our Affairs, which draw us to Attach false Applications to that which He Allows.  When we question God’s Methods, Motives, and Management, in relation to our issues, it causes us to Move away from having fellowship with Him.  Therefore, God’s Greatest DESIRE, is for us to maintain steadfast CONFIDENCE and BELIEF in Him, and in His Unfailing Love for us, regardless of the negative changes in our circumstances.  In every situation, no matter what the problem may be, He Lovingly bids us, “Do not fear, only Believe.”
