Luke 7:15-16

15. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

16. And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people."

Verse 15  is a vivid, dynamic, active demonstration of God's love for suffering humanity and His power to deliver. The verse points out that, having heard the voice of the Life-giver, though dead,  and on the way to be buried, the woman's son sat up and began to speak. At Jesus' command, the young man's life that was stolen by death, was restored.

There are so many adverse circumstances of varying degrees that have stolen our happiness and our joy of living. All levels of crime; sickness, and in recent times, the covid pandemic;  jealousy, and broken relationships and the list goes on,  have robbed us of the enjoyment of life. Sin is the root cause of our painful experiences.

Wherever we are in the scheme of things, we can be assured that God is working His purposes out on our behalf.

In verse 16, profound awe gripped those who witnessed the resurrecting power of Jesus. Before their very eyes, they witnessed how the body of young man was moved from death to life.  As a consequence, they began to glorify and praise God.

The unrelinguishing power of restoration is still in hands of Jesus, the Life-giver. He can give 'life' to our seemingly hopeless situations.  Let us continue to trust Jesus. He is our only assurance. When we experience God's miraculous power in our lives, may we never fail to glorify Him.
