GOD’S BESTOWAL OF GIFTS

2 Peter 1:2 "Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,"

What is grace? It is favour, compassion,  forgiveness, and pardon shown to someone. Grace is God's unmerited favour. It is His gift of pardon to mankind, who does not deserve it.  No matter what we have done, God freely offers grace to all.

What is peace?

Peace is a mental state that results in the freedom from annoyance and anxiety. Peace is the assurance that God gives us, that even if all of our issues are not resolved, we can have the confidence that He is in control of every aspect of our lives.  The peace that God gives us, passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and it cannot be changed by circumstances.

Our verse of focus is a prayer that the gifts of grace and peace be multiplied unto us.  When something is multiplied, it increases in quantity. Multiplication means growth and expansion. This unique multiplication comes through a particular source, which is the Word of God, our lifeline. A diligent, careful, and constant study of God's Word will reveal our daily need of the gifts of grace and peace. These gifts enable us to live more  productive and stress-free lives.

The verse suggests that where there is a lack of the study of God's Word, the gifts of grace and peace are less prominent. It is important for each one to realize the practical, immeasurable benefits that can be derived from the Word of God. If you are not an active student of the Word, it is not too late to start the journey.
